Downtown Athletic Club

For our latest project, we had the opportunity to film the vibrant atmosphere of the Downtown Athletic Club in Mount Sterling, Kentucky. Our goal was to capture the essence of this local gym, highlighting the dedication and energy of its members.

Armed with our Sony A7IV and drone, we approached this project with a blend of precision and spontaneity. To ensure authenticity, we collaborated closely with the gym’s manager to schedule a day when the gym was buzzing with activity. This allowed us to film real members in their natural environment, adding a genuine, unscripted feel to the footage.

We began the shoot early in the morning, using the A7IV to capture intimate, ground-level shots of members going through their routines. The gym's warm, natural lighting was perfect for highlighting the intensity of their workouts. We moved fluidly through the space, taking advantage of the A7IV's versatility to capture everything from close-ups of determined faces to wide shots of group classes in action.

To add a dynamic perspective, we also utilized our drone, capturing stunning aerial shots that showcase the gym’s architecture and its place within the community. These aerial views provided a unique contrast to the ground-level footage, giving viewers a full scope of the gym's environment.

The project was a mix of structured planning and creative improvisation. While we had a clear vision of the key shots we wanted, the run-and-gun nature of the shoot allowed us to be flexible and capture unexpected moments of energy and camaraderie among the members. The result is a video that not only highlights the physical space but also the spirit and dedication of the community that brings it to life.

The final video has been met with great enthusiasm, both by the gym and the community it serves, perfectly encapsulating the passion that drives the Downtown Athletic Club.
